Leagues in Path of Exile 2 are game modes that cater to different playstyles and difficulty preferences. Leagues usually last for 3-4 months, occasionally the run events too with 1-2 months length. What are Leagues?
Leagues are game modes in PoE 2 that offer varying levels of challenge and rulesets. They are designed to accommodate different playstyles and preferences, from casual to hardcore players.
Permanent Leagues
Standard League
Description: The default game mode recommended for both new and experienced players. Once a challenge league ends or your Hardcore character dies, they will get transferred to this league. There is no economy reset in Standard.
Features: No penalties for dying, free trading with other players.
Ideal For: Players who want a relaxed gaming experience without the fear of permanent consequences.
Hardcore League
Description: A more challenging mode with a permadeath mechanic. There is no economy reset in Hardcore League.
Features: Dying in this league sends your character to the Standard League permanently.

Solo Self-Found (SSF)

Temporary Leagues (Challenge Leagues)
Description: Similar to seasons in other ARPGs, Challenge Leagues are temporary events with unique modifiers and content. When the Challenge League ends, your character will be transferred to Standard League. This mode includes enonomy reset with every league start.
Duration: Typically lasting 3-4 months.
Features: Exclusive modifiers, new content, and the ability to transfer characters to permanent leagues upon completion.

How to Choose a League
Select Your League Before Creating a Character
When creating a new character, you will be prompted to select a league.
Note that while you can switch from Hardcore to Standard upon dying, you cannot switch from Standard to Hardcore.
Consider Your Playstyle
Casual: Standard League is the best choice for a relaxed experience.
Challenging: Hardcore League offers a higher level of difficulty.
Solo: Solo Self-Found or Hardcore SSF are ideal for solo players.
Variety: Challenge Leagues provide fresh content and unique modifiers.
